THERE’S A COFFEE INFUSED COCKTAIL FOR YOUR FEET, SO CHEERS TO YOUR NEXT SPA DAY WITH YOUR BESTIES

Your friends and neighbors might live for posting latte art or their three olive martinis, but they probably have no idea how coffee and vodka could be the keys to softer, smoother feet this fall.

Yea, there’s an espresso martini…for your feet.

It’s a thing, and my friends at JAVA Skin Care and Perfectly Nailed in EG invited me to try their JAVA Espresso Martini Pedicure earlier this week. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but also knew my feet weren’t looking too hot after all those steps logged while walking around in Birkenstocks for most of the summer, so why not? All I had to lose were some calluses (TMI?).

But let’s begin at the beginning of any pedicure – the foot soak. We’ve all been there. To use your phone or not? Wouldn’t want it falling in the water. Maybe flip thru the latest issue of People or US Weekly instead and catch up on the adventures of Blake Lively, Tracee Ellis Ross, and JLO. But this was no ordinary soak.

This one included epsom salts, vanilla oil, and vodka. Wait, what? VODKA?!? That detail had my attention, so forget the smart phones and gossip-y glossy mags. According to lovely ppl at Perfectly Nailed, liquor in general – and vodka* in particular – has natural antiseptic properties that help break down anything yucky that might be lurking in cracked heels and elsewhere on your feet.

*Perfectly Nailed also incorporates tequila and whiskey into other pedi options because they too work as natural antiseptics that kill bacteria and germs that attach to the skin’s surface.

The next step is an exfoliation with Java’s antioxidant rich and moisturizing scrub made with organic green coffee. The coffee scent is a nice treat too. Immediately following that? Hot towels and a foot and ankle massage with the Java Serum, two things most of us never do at home (just listened to a podcast, the two hosts who are beauty fanatics were saying the only beauty treatments that should be done at home are shaving, teeth brushing, and hair washing.). Sooo relaxing you might find yourself feeling like you’re going to float home on a cloud or something.

Also, as someone who’s perpetually on the lookout for clean and cruelty free (no animal testing) beauty and skincare, gotta say (I) adore how there are no surprises with JAVA. It’s made with the best quality ingredients and they never use any phtalates, parabens, synthetic fragrance or color in their skincare. It’s also gluten, sulphate, and cruelty free. And it works like a dream. Woot, Woot!

My skin’s also on the sensitive side, so I tend to be cautious about introducing different products into any beauty treatments, whether they involves the skin on my face or on my feet. Happy to report that I had no irritation of any kind. Guys, my feet have never looked or felt better!

Meet Brigid: Create Love Heal

We would like to introduce you to a very busy woman, Brigid from Create Love Heal, mother of 3, osteopath, holistic lifestyle coach, blogger who “ is passionate about the importance of self love, soulful living, non toxic skincare & beauty products and helping women and teens on their journey to self discovery” and fan of JAVA Skin Care.
1.  How do you take your coffee?
I am not normally a coffee drinker, I just love the scent and am obsessed with it being in my skincare products; however, if I do have coffee, it’ll be in a blend of medicinal mushroom coffee with MCT oil, cinnamon, grass-fed butter.

2.  What is your astrological sign?
Virgo through and through

3.  A little history of your blog?
My blog began as a hobby for me when I had planned on creating my own skincare line in honour of my daughter’s horrific skin rashes; I have always been a huge believer in eliminating toxins from your home and skincare/makeup so I went from making my own basic balms to entering the green beauty community and I’ve never looked back.
I share my passion for non-toxic skincare on my blog along with detoxifying your emotional realm. My deep passion involves encouraging others to embrace and learn about themselves while becoming their truest self. I run an online “Learning To Be Me” Workshop which targets this side of my focus.

4.  What in green beauty are you passionate about right now?
Coffee scrubs are my obsession, but I am also very passionate about supporting small companies and encouraging women to find what works for them! I like to provide reviews that are positive and a true reflection of the energetic offerings of natural skincare, it is so alive and can offer huge therapeutic benefits when matched with the right person. I like to see my skincare routine as a sacred ritual to serve myself and I relish in the fact that I am nourishing my skin each and every day.

5.  What is your favorite JAVA product?
I am loving both the scrub and the body oil. The oil is so rich and loving to the skin, without being congesting or heavy. It is brilliant. And the scrub…well, sugar, coffee and a good amount of oil is always a perfect blend!

6.  Any tip on how you use it?
Always be present with the use of both this scrub and the oil; I take the time to really feel the use of these products (like any product) and how it makes you feel. It is a self care ritual that should be a mindful one, never rush a scrub or body oil, really embrace it and take time to feel the effects.

🌸 Spring Is Here – It’s That Time Again Ladies!

End of Winter = 1st of Spring Leg Shave

Its officially spring and if you’re anything like us, it’s been awhile since you’re legs have seen the light of day. Its time to get those babies shaved and, while you’re at it,  get those toes painted too!

We’d like to suggest trying a new technique:Use JAVA Body Scrub to exfoliate before you shave to get those legs silky smooth for their first day out in the sunshine this spring.

Here’s how we do it:

Cleanse with JAVA Body Wash. You’re going to want to wash before exfoliating so all of those wonderful oils from the scrub can absorb into your freshly cleaned skin.

Next, exfoliate with JAVA Body Scrub rubbing in gentle circles all over the legs and feet. Not only is this going to remove the dead skin that’s been building up on your legs and feet, but it’s also going to help with ingrown hairs that may have developed with all of the winter tights and leggings wearing. After you’ve scrubbed lightly, rinse off the scrub granules, but leave behind as much of the oil as you can.

Now, use your favorite razor and shave with the oil left on your legs – we don’t use any other shaving cream or gels.

Rinse off then lightly pat dry. Follow with JAVA Body Serum to help prevent any red bumps or itching and to keep skin smooth and hydrated.

Grab a short skirt and a strappy pair of sandals to show off those super soft and shiny legs and feet!!Happy Shaving!

March Holidays Rhode Island Style

Spring is almost here!!! Time to celebrate!

Pretty much everyone knows about St. Patrick’s Day, right? In Rhode Island, we have several annual parades, including one in Newport that becomes quite the all-day into evening party (and we know from experience). You may even be lucky enough to see a leprechaun or two around town.

We also celebrate another holiday that you may not be as familiar with only  two days after the Irish party. Its called St. Joseph’s Day, and its kind of like the Italian version of St. Patrick’s Day, with a few differences. Here in Little Rhody, instead of green we wear red and instead of drinking Guinness we eat these amaaaazing Italian pastries called zeppoles. It’s said that everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, and on St. Joseph’s Day we can all be Italian and enjoy the delectable pastries made especially for this holiday.

I guess you can add that to list of things we do or say a little differently in Rhode Island, along with coffee milk (like chocolate milk but better), bubblers (water fountains), and cabinets (milk shakes) to name a few. Happy March from our weird and wonderful state to yours!

Rose Latte Anyone?

You’ve probably noticed that all of us here at JAVA Skin Care “LO💖E” coffee (although “love” may not be a strong enough word). What you might not know is that some of our products are directly inspired by our team’s favorite coffee drinks. So, when we tried a Rose Latte for the first time, we knew the aromatic combination of coffee and roses would make a heavenly combination for a lip kit – and the Bloom Lip Duo was born!

And now, we’re dropping some barista knowledge on you and showing you how we make a creamy, caffeinated, floral rose latte:

  • Pulling a perfect shot of Espresso – Layer finely ground fresh coffee into your portafilter and use your tamper to press the grinds down with approximately 30 pounds of pressure to form an even surface. Next, insert your portafilter into the espresso machine and place your cup underneath. When you press the button to brew the shot it should take about 20 to 30 seconds to complete. The brew should start out dark and change into a golden brown foamy liquid called the crema.
  • Infusing the Roses into Milk – Add about 8oz of the milk of your choice to a frothing pitcher with a tablespoon of organic dried rose petals, then heat and froth the milk to approximately 150 degrees, infusing the flavor of roses into your milk.
  • Build your Drink – Add your shot of espresso to your mug, then strain the milk on top of the espresso making sure to that steamed rose petals don’t make it past your spoon. Spoon any leftover milk foam on top. Crush a pinch of your organic dried rose petals and then sprinkle them on top of your latte.
  • Now take a totally Insta-Worthy picture of your creation and enjoy. Then grab yourself a JAVA Bloom Duo so you never have to be far from the exceptional aromas of coffee and roses ever again!

Enjoy!

Managing Your Winter Skin

Outdoors in the Cold

Winter is in full swing here at JAVA Skin Care HQ in Rhode Island and all this COLD weather means the team is stepping up our beauty routines to keep our skin hydrated and glowing all season. Luckily, JAVA’s got everything we need!

As the temperature falls, the humidity in the air drops. The dry cold air evaporates the water from our skin leaving our hides feeling dry, tight and flaky.

There are two crucial steps to keeping as much moisture as we can in our skin: Exfoliation and hydration.

Make sure to wash your body and face with a moisturizing wash or bar soap. It is important to hydrate every chance you get during these dry months!

Our JAVA Body Wash is based with some amazing natural moisturizers like aloe vera, argan, and safflower oil.

Exfoliating removes dry dull skin cells from the surface of our skin to facilitate moisturizer absorption. If you skip exfoliating, moisturizers can get stuck in the rough outer layer of dead skin cells, preventing the healing and hydration from penetrating into our skin. So, basically not moisturizing your skin at all and also wasting product.

JAVA Body Scrub packs a one-two punch of hydration and exfoliation. Organic roasted and green coffee scrub off dull, dry skin while argan, safflower and sweet almond oil hydrate and heal.

Once you’ve given yourself a good scrubbing, it’s time to get your moisturizing on. Take advantage of the water you are already putting on your skin everyday by smoothing serum onto wet skin after cleansing (this not only seals in moisture but it also makes your product go a lot further!)

JAVA’s Body Serum is specially formulated with small molecules to penetrate into the skin and create a moisture barrier to keep your skin feeling good all day long without a greasy residue.

With JAVA, you can feel good in your own skin all winter long!.
