Managing Your Winter Skin

Outdoors in the Cold

Winter is in full swing here at JAVA Skin Care HQ in Rhode Island and all this COLD weather means the team is stepping up our beauty routines to keep our skin hydrated and glowing all season. Luckily, JAVA’s got everything we need!

As the temperature falls, the humidity in the air drops. The dry cold air evaporates the water from our skin leaving our hides feeling dry, tight and flaky.

There are two crucial steps to keeping as much moisture as we can in our skin: Exfoliation and hydration.

Make sure to wash your body and face with a moisturizing wash or bar soap. It is important to hydrate every chance you get during these dry months!

Our JAVA Body Wash is based with some amazing natural moisturizers like aloe vera, argan, and safflower oil.

Exfoliating removes dry dull skin cells from the surface of our skin to facilitate moisturizer absorption. If you skip exfoliating, moisturizers can get stuck in the rough outer layer of dead skin cells, preventing the healing and hydration from penetrating into our skin. So, basically not moisturizing your skin at all and also wasting product.

JAVA Body Scrub packs a one-two punch of hydration and exfoliation. Organic roasted and green coffee scrub off dull, dry skin while argan, safflower and sweet almond oil hydrate and heal.

Once you’ve given yourself a good scrubbing, it’s time to get your moisturizing on. Take advantage of the water you are already putting on your skin everyday by smoothing serum onto wet skin after cleansing (this not only seals in moisture but it also makes your product go a lot further!)

JAVA’s Body Serum is specially formulated with small molecules to penetrate into the skin and create a moisture barrier to keep your skin feeling good all day long without a greasy residue.

With JAVA, you can feel good in your own skin all winter long!.

Sabrina – The Brunette Ecoholic

This week’s The Perks of JAVA installment introduces us to Sabrina (known as Brie to friends and family), The Brunette Ecoholic. Brie has a passion for Eco-conscious and balanced living.  This passion not only drives her to research the skincare products that she uses for herself and her family but also to share this information so that we can all benefit.

Here are Brie’s answers to our JAVA questionnaire:

How do you take your coffee? I like stevia and almond milk in my coffee

What is your astrological sign? I am an Aquarius – which means I am loyal, curious, and imaginative. It also means I can be unpredictable and a little all over the place (or as my husband likes to say – I have “oooh shiny syndrome“)! lol

A little history of your blog? I started my blog when I was recovering from major back surgery. I wanted to create a space where I could not only share my love & passion for clean, eco-conscious and balanced living but to also share my life-long skin issues and what has (and hasn’t) helped. What in green beauty are you passionate about right now? For me, it’s all about skin care. I love makeup and am so impressed with all of the options we now have in the green beauty world (and that are just as good, if not better than conventional), but in my opinion, if your skin looks unhealthy or is having major issues, all the makeup in the world won’t make much difference!

What is your favorite JAVA Skin Care product? Do I have to just pick one? The lip product junkie in me loves the lip scrub & lip balm, but I also adore the body serum!

Any tip on how you use it? The body serum I apply right as I get out of the shower while my skin is still damp. I find that oils seem to absorb better & more deeply without a greasy feel when skin is wet.

Need Help With That “Chicken Skin” Look On Your Arms?

This skin condition called Keratosis pilaris, is characterized by numerous small, rough, red, or tan bumps primarily around hair follicles on the upper arms, legs, and buttocks. Keratosis pilaris creates a “goose bumps,” “gooseflesh,” or “chicken skin” appearance.

JAVA Body Scrub in a Bowlemily with scrub on arms and shoulder

Our friends and family tell us daily that our JAVA Coffee Bean and Raw Sugar Scrub exfoliates, smooths and  makes the goose bumps dissappear. Why you ask?…because of our signature infusion of green coffee and argan oil loaded with antioxidants that take our scrub to the next level.

Camille – Serial Outfit Repeater

This week finds us in Nashville, Tennessee, “Music City” of America and home to a  growing number of fashion designers. Meet Camille, fashion blogger known as Serial Outfit Repeater, for her unique perspectives and insights into today’s fashions.

How do you take your coffee?
I love all types of coffee! It really depends on the day. If I’m on the go and need a quick pick-me-up, a cortado is my choice of beverage, but if I have a little more time, I love relaxing with an almond milk latte. I recently tried a latte made with golden turmeric milk and that may be my favorite.

What is your astrological sign?
A Gemini, so I have multiple sides – as indicated by my multiple coffee preferences.

A little history of your blog?
The title of my blog is Serial Outfit Repeater, and it’s based on fashion for the everyday woman. There’s this stigma in fashion that you can’t wear the same thing twice, but that’s just not realistic in real life. I love having a wardrobe reduced to simple pieces as they all mix and match better and make it easy to get ready in the morning.

What in green beauty are you passionate about right now?
I love the organic sheet face masks that are popular right now. They look silly, but they really refresh my skin. I also love the Java product line – all of their products smell heavenly.

What is your favorite JAVA product?
That’s a hard choice! The serum really brings my beauty routine to a whole new level – after I shave, I apply the serum before I moisturize for glowing skin. The lip balm is also a really beautiful shade of plum. And, like I said, all of the products make me smell amazing!

Any tip on how you use it?
Use the coffee body scrub before you shave, then the serum to moisturize for beautiful skin.
