Summer in Rhode Island lasts through the end of September with warm temperatures. It really is one of my favorite times of the year… I know, I say that each season… lol.

I love going to Farmers’ Markets and picking up local vegetables. The Casey Farm (Saunderstown, RI) Market is one of our best markets and is located on a historic working farm. Truly a lovely location.
Fresh Eggs are a special treat We get ours from the Future Farmers of America, Narragansett High School Program… Do you know about FFA? It is a dynamic youth organization that changes lives and prepares members for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. FFA develops members’ potential and helps them discover their talent through hands-on experiences, which give them the tools to achieve real-world success.
With my children back in school and breakfast such an important meal to fuel up for their day, I use the veggies from the market and the eggs from FFA to make my “famous” frittata… well, maybe not so famous… but so good!

The dog days of summer have arrived, and I am committed to enjoying e-v-e-r-y last minute of it!
This is my dog Driftwood. He is the JAVA Mascot. He even has his own Insta Page – he loves to get follows @driftwoodyyyyyy. He is a Saint Bern-doodle, a combo of a Saint Bernard and a standard Poodle. I must admit, he is the coolest dog because doesn’t shed, doesn’t drool and has the temperament of a Saint. He is pretty big at 85 pounds, but as gentle as can be. He loves to swim and take baths.
Paddle Boarding Anyone?
My new obsession is paddle boarding. At the end of my street is a saltwater river that is perfect to paddle board on. We even do Full Moon Paddles. The next Full Moon is August 15th. These evening events are amazing. If you are into paddle-boarding, I highly recommend a this lunar experience. Friends have offered to teach me paddle board yoga, but I struggle with yoga on land…lol…so I’ll pass on that for now, anyway. COFFEE INFUSED SKIN CARE
I absolutely love coffee, but I would have never thought to put it in my skin care! Coffee grounds are a natural exfoliate and the caffeine from coffee is a natural anti-inflammatory. Picking Dalhias- My daughter’s beloved grandfather Papap was a prize winning dahlia grower and always had the most stunning garden. These flowers hold a special place in our hearts.
Making the switch to hot coffee – There is nothing better then drinking a fresh brewed coffee on a crisp morning. Adding an apple cider donut is always a welcome treat (but don’t worry, I’m still working out with Jtab!)
A new fall experience I had recently was meeting up with Best of RI Blogger Patty J for a fun collab at Perfectly Nailed Salon in East Greenwich, RI. The owner- Jessica has put together a JAVA pedicure that is decadent. She invited Patty J and I for the afternoon and we were pampered to the max. Check out Patty Js blog and give Jessica or Bianca a call to schedule a JAVA pedicure for a special treat. It is a must do- if I say so myself- lol.

Your friends and neighbors might live for posting latte art or their three olive martinis, but they probably have no idea how coffee and vodka could be the keys to softer, smoother feet this fall.
Yea, there’s an espresso martini…for your feet.
It’s a thing, and my friends at JAVA Skin Care and Perfectly Nailed in EG invited me to try their JAVA Espresso Martini Pedicure earlier this week. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but also knew my feet weren’t looking too hot after all those steps logged while walking around in Birkenstocks for most of the summer, so why not? All I had to lose were some calluses (TMI?).
But let’s begin at the beginning of any pedicure – the foot soak. We’ve all been there. To use your phone or not? Wouldn’t want it falling in the water. Maybe flip thru the latest issue of People or US Weekly instead and catch up on the adventures of Blake Lively, Tracee Ellis Ross, and JLO. But this was no ordinary soak.
This one included epsom salts, vanilla oil, and vodka. Wait, what? VODKA?!? That detail had my attention, so forget the smart phones and gossip-y glossy mags. According to lovely ppl at Perfectly Nailed, liquor in general – and vodka* in particular – has natural antiseptic properties that help break down anything yucky that might be lurking in cracked heels and elsewhere on your feet.
*Perfectly Nailed also incorporates tequila and whiskey into other pedi options because they too work as natural antiseptics that kill bacteria and germs that attach to the skin’s surface.
The next step is an exfoliation with Java’s antioxidant rich and moisturizing scrub made with organic green coffee. The coffee scent is a nice treat too. Immediately following that? Hot towels and a foot and ankle massage with the Java Serum, two things most of us never do at home (just listened to a podcast, the two hosts who are beauty fanatics were saying the only beauty treatments that should be done at home are shaving, teeth brushing, and hair washing.). Sooo relaxing you might find yourself feeling like you’re going to float home on a cloud or something.
Also, as someone who’s perpetually on the lookout for clean and cruelty free (no animal testing) beauty and skincare, gotta say (I) adore how there are no surprises with JAVA. It’s made with the best quality ingredients and they never use any phtalates, parabens, synthetic fragrance or color in their skincare. It’s also gluten, sulphate, and cruelty free. And it works like a dream. Woot, Woot!
My skin’s also on the sensitive side, so I tend to be cautious about introducing different products into any beauty treatments, whether they involves the skin on my face or on my feet. Happy to report that I had no irritation of any kind. Guys, my feet have never looked or felt better!
