Steph Says ~October Favorites

IMG_7372Fall is here in Narragansett Rhode Island and while we are known for our beaches October brings a whole new kind of beauty to the state. My favorite things to do to ring in this new season are:

  • Watch the leaves change color – Just driving down the road can turn into zen moment.
  • Visit a Pumpkin patch – The Farmer’s Daughter in South Kingstown is one of my favorite places to spend a fall afternoon. It is so beautiful this time of year!
  • Picking Dalhias- My daughter’s beloved grandfather Papap was a prize winning dahlia grower and always had the most stunning garden. These flowers hold a special place in our hearts.
  • Making the switch to hot coffee – There is nothing better then drinking a fresh brewed coffee on a crisp morning. Adding an apple cider donut is always a welcome treat (but don’t worry, I’m still working out with Jtab!)

A new fall experience I had recently was meeting up with Best of RI Blogger Patty J for a fun collab at Perfectly Nailed Salon in East Greenwich, RI. The owner- Jessica has put together a JAVA pedicure that is decadent. She invited Patty J and I for the afternoon and we were pampered to the max. We would like to introduce you to a very busy woman, Brigid from Create Love Heal, mother of 3, osteopath, holistic lifestyle coach, blogger who “ is passionate about the importance of self love, soulful living, non toxic skincare & beauty products and helping women and teens on their journey to self discovery” and fan of JAVA Skin Care.
1.  How do you take your coffee?
I am not normally a coffee drinker, I just love the scent and am obsessed with it being in my skincare products; however, if I do have coffee, it’ll be in a blend of medicinal mushroom coffee with MCT oil, cinnamon, grass-fed butter.

3.  A little history of your blog?
My blog began as a hobby for me when I had planned on creating my own skincare line in honour of my daughter’s horrific skin rashes; I have always been a huge believer in eliminating toxins from your home and skincare/makeup so I went from making my own basic balms to entering the green beauty community and I’ve never looked back.
I share my passion for non-toxic skincare on my blog along with detoxifying your emotional realm. My deep passion involves encouraging others to embrace and learn about themselves while becoming their truest self. I run an online “Learning To Be Me” Workshop which targets this side of my focus.

4.  What in green beauty are you passionate about right now?
Coffee scrubs are my obsession, but I am also very passionate about supporting small companies and encouraging women to find what works for them! I like to provide reviews that are positive and a true reflection of the energetic offerings of natural skincare, it is so alive and can offer huge therapeutic benefits when matched with the right person. I like to see my skincare routine as a sacred ritual to serve myself and I relish in the fact that I am nourishing my skin each and every day.

5.  What is your favorite JAVA product?
I am loving both the scrub and the body oil. The oil is so rich and loving to the skin, without being congesting or heavy. It is brilliant. And the scrub…well, sugar, coffee and a good amount of oil is always a perfect blend!

6.  Any tip on how you use it?
Always be present with the use of both this scrub and the oil; I take the time to really feel the use of these products (like any product) and how it makes you feel. It is a self care ritual that should be a mindful one, never rush a scrub or body oil, really embrace it and take time to feel the effects.

Managing Your Winter Skin

Outdoors in the Cold

Winter is in full swing here at JAVA Skin Care HQ in Rhode Island and all this COLD weather means the team is stepping up our beauty routines to keep our skin hydrated and glowing all season. Luckily, JAVA’s got everything we need!

As the temperature falls, the humidity in the air drops. The dry cold air evaporates the water from our skin leaving our hides feeling dry, tight and flaky.

There are two crucial steps to keeping as much moisture as we can in our skin: Exfoliation and hydration.

Make sure to wash your body and face with a moisturizing wash or bar soap. It is important to hydrate every chance you get during these dry months!

Our JAVA Body Wash is based with some amazing natural moisturizers like aloe vera, argan, and safflower oil.

Exfoliating removes dry dull skin cells from the surface of our skin to facilitate moisturizer absorption. If you skip exfoliating, moisturizers can get stuck in the rough outer layer of dead skin cells, preventing the healing and hydration from penetrating into our skin. How do you take your coffee? I like stevia and almond milk in my coffee

What is your astrological sign? I am an Aquarius – which means I am loyal, curious, and imaginative. It also means I can be unpredictable and a little all over the place (or as my husband likes to say – I have “oooh shiny syndrome“)! lol

A little history of your blog? I started my blog when I was recovering from major back surgery. I wanted to create a space where I could not only share my love & passion for clean, eco-conscious and balanced living but to also share my life-long skin issues and what has (and hasn’t) helped.What in green beauty are you passionate about right now? For me, it’s all about skin care. I love makeup and am so impressed with all of the options we now have in the green beauty world (and that are just as good, if not better than conventional), but in my opinion, if your skin looks unhealthy or is having major issues, all the makeup in the world won’t make much difference!

What is your favorite JAVA Skin Care product? Do I have to just pick one? The lip product junkie in me loves the lip scrub & lip balm, but I also adore the body serum!

Any tip on how you use it? The body serum I apply right as I get out of the shower while my skin is still damp. I find that oils seem to absorb better & more deeply without a greasy feel when skin is wet.

How do you take your coffee?
I’m such a coffee-Holic. ( accent included )  I take my coffee hot with coconut milk or almond milk. Sometimes I’ll use chocolate almond milk for a low cal Mocha flavor. I use honey and cinnamon for a natural sweetener. I actually tried adding Cacao powder last week with some blue agave. That was phenomenal! I like iced coffee too.

What is your astrological sign?
I’m a Libra.
Libras are the diplomat of the zodiac. They are able to put themselves in other’s shoes and see things through another person’s point of view. We are usually the ones that always want to make things right and have balance and harmony in their life, their surroundings and the lives of the people close to them. 
Most libras are involved in something super creative or artistic.

A little history of your blog?
Jennifer Tapiero was raised on the East Coast before moving to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of becoming a television talk show host. What in green beauty are you passionate about right now?
My friends call me “organically Jen” I’m thinking of starting a YouTube channel showing people my day to day beauty routines and what I eat. I make sure all my beauty products are gluten free/paraben free/ organic and come from natural ingredients. I have have a lot of allergies so I’m super careful. This is my lifestyle. I love going into the kitchen and making different natural masks. I’m definitely unapologetically picky when it comes to what I eat, what I put on my skin. My makeup is made from fruit from a line called 100 percent pure. I’m super passionate about chemical free makeup and making sure all my friends are knowledgeable about what they are putting on also. I bring my own makeup and products to sets. I annoy all my friends and family but they will thank me later! Sorry guys! Just looking out. 😍

What is your favorite JAVA product?
I’m seriously obsessed with the lip scrub. My boyfriend says my lips are super soft. I also really love the body oil. My legs look super sexy for red carpets and the products make me feel confident and hot.
