Valentine’s Day Gift Guide by JAVA

coffee, roses and lip products

Need a Valentine’s Gift for your Spouse, or Family Member or maybe a Galentine’s Gift for your Bestie?

JAVA Skin Care has awesome items for you to consider – at 30% off sitewide now until February 10th, no code needed.

Since we are still spending so much time at home and working so hard to stay Covid-Free, consider these skin care products that can create awesome At-Home-Spa Experiences.

First on the list – Sexy Serum, our stimulating and sensual caffeine-infused massage oil. This super-moisturizing oil can be used all over your body – even the sexy bits. Consider back massages, relaxing foot massages or just set your imagination free – it’s up to you! Our Sexy Serum bottle comes in a lovely pink satin pouch.

Next, we have our gorgeous “Serum – The Collection” combining our three most luxurious products: Eye Serum, Face Serum and Body Serum. We put them together in a onyx-color gift box with a unicorn-pink ribbon. All I can say is “So Lush.” And… at 30% off, such a great deal.

Consider including a Hand & Body Wash to your Serum Collection gift and you have the makings of a great Spa Night. Our Hand & Body Wash makes for a super-foamy bubble bath – but without the harsh ingredients that have been know to cause irritation after a bubbly soak. Then, after luxuriating in the tub, Serum up your whole body, from face to toes. You will feel cleansed, relaxed and moisturized. Ahhhhh…. Can you feel it?

Finally, let me tell you about our Valentine’s Day Gift Set, the combination of an awesome Lip Care Duo along with a vial of Rose Petals and Chocolate Hearts. What more could you want? This collection also comes in a gift box with, what else, a lovely pink bow – super cute.

Revered since ancient times, Roses are known for more than just their beauty. The petals have soothing & cleansing properties for the skin. Consider a Facial Steam for your Spa Night. Here is a recipe to get you started:

  • Bring a pot of water close to a boil on your stove top
  • Add the vial of Rose Petals to a heat-proof bowl
  • Pour the hot water over the petals
  • Cover the bowl with a towel for 5-10 minutes to allow the petals to steep
  • Place the towel over your head and lean your face over the bowl, about 12 inches away, to absorb steam and vapors
  • Keep breathing in vapors for 15 minutes
  • Gently pat dry
  • Finish with a moisturizer – we suggest JAVA Face Serum

Of course, all of our JAVA Skin Care products make great gifts – don’t forget something for yourself!

Oh, and we love to hear from you, so please consider leaving a review on our website or check us out on Facebook and Instagram – @javaskincare

Happy Valentine’s Day ❤️

Steph Says ~ Give Thanks

November is upon us. Thanksgiving with my family is very special to me. This is a great time of year to give thanks for all that we have. I also try to remember those less fortunate – here’s a reminder to all that Food Kitchens and Pantries are especially in need right now, so if you are able to make a donation, I encourage you to do so.

A perfect hostess gift for any dinner party can be a great bottle of Prosecco, cozy sweaters, or a special food item.

My favorite things this month:

Choosing the perfect Hostess Gift – I like to bring a bottle of Prosecco for the party and, to spoil my hostess, JAVA Skin Care products to enjoy the day after (we all know how stressful it can be to cook the turkey).

MACY’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City remains my family’s favorite holiday event. For years and years we have attended the parade… the kids are mesmerized by the floats. Truth be told, so am!

We are thrilled to be chosen again this year to participate in the Made on Honor Market Event for Narragansett Beer on Nov 23 & 24th. In an effort to include more businesses, they are moving this year’s event to the beautiful WaterFire Arts Center located at 475 Valley St. in Providence! The space is truly amazing and we couldn’t be more excited about it. Join us for two full days of holiday shopping, meet the people behind some of OUR favorite brands, and of course, we’ll be drinking plenty of beer. Best part? This is a FREE event and it is open to the public.

Our November Spotlight Product is the JAVA Discovery Collection.

The JAVA Discovery Collection is a four-part kit that includes mini sizes of our signature body care products: Body Serum, 1 oz.; Body Scrub, 2 oz.; Body Wash, 2 oz.; Body Bar, 1.5 oz.

Together, this collection improves appearance of skin tone and fine lines, minimizes moisture loss, brightens and softens skin. This is perfect as an introduction to JAVA Skin Care or as a travel kit – all four products are TSA compliant.

Wishing you all a Healthy, Safe and Happy Thanksgiving

XOXO

Stephanie

Steph Says: October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is such a transition month.  We begin the month with summer-like days still lingering, with some 80 degree afternoons and beautiful beach days, but few beach-goers.

We end the month deep into Fall.  Leaves have turned and many have already fallen.  We celebrate Halloween (keep an eye open for our spooky sale later this month).

October is also National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. At JAVA Skin Care, as a women-owned and run business,  women’s health issues are always of highest concern to us. We are acutely aware of the battles faced by so many women – as well as men- who are fighting for their lives every day with Breast Cancer. We would like to share some facts and links to breast cancer information as part of our support of this very important annual worldwide campaign:

WearItPInk tells us:

“The earlier breast cancer is diagnosed, the better the chance of successful treatment. So it’s important to check your breasts regularly and see your GP if you notice a change.

Common breast cancer signs and symptoms include:

  • a lump or swelling in the breast, upper chest or armpit – you might feel the lump but not see it
  • a change to the skin, such as puckering or dimpling
  • a change in the color of the breast – the breast may look red or inflamed
  • a change to the nipple, for example it has become pulled in (inverted)
  • rash or crusting around the nipple
  • any unusual liquid (discharge) from either nipple
  • changes in size or shape of the breast” 1

…and, from The American Cancer Society:

“How Common Is Breast Cancer?

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in American women, except for skin cancers. Currently, the average risk of a woman in the United States developing breast cancer sometime in her life is about 12%. This means there is a 1 in 8 chance she will develop breast cancer. This also means there is a 7 in 8 chance she will never have the disease.

Current year estimates for breast cancer

The American Cancer Society’s estimates for breast cancer in the United States for 2019 are:

  • About 268,600 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women.
  • About 62,930 new cases of carcinoma in situ (CIS) will be diagnosed (CIS is non-invasive and is the earliest form of breast cancer).
  • About 41,760 women will die from breast cancer.” 2

“There are some things that might be risk factors for breast cancer, but the research is not yet clear about whether they really affect breast cancer risk.

A great deal of research has been reported and more is being done to understand possible environmental influences on breast cancer risk.

Chemicals in the environment that have estrogen-like properties are of special interest. For example, substances found in some plastics, certain cosmetics and personal care products, pesticides, and PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) seem to have such properties. In theory, these could affect breast cancer risk.” 3

JAVA Skin Care Ingredients

Breast Cancer Action warns of possible link between cancer and cosmetics:

“Many cosmetics contain chemicals known as parabens and phthalates, which recent studies indicate may be linked to cancer development…

… Many diseases like cancer, asthma, birth defects, and learning disabilities are on the rise, and growing evidence indicates that these health problems are linked to the chemicals we are exposed to in our air, water, food, and everyday products. It’s time we start acting to protect human health.” 4

At JAVA Skin Care, we believe that everything we put on our bodies can make a difference in our overall health . Our skin is our largest organ and it is responsible for keeping every other organ and other parts protected. It is also porous, and as such, absorbs many of the products that we lather on. For this reason, we only use non-toxic, all-natural ingredients in every one of our JAVA Skin Care products. If you have concerns about what you are putting on your body, then check us out.

This month, we are offering our Wonderbar Soaps at 20% off. Get yourself a healthy, moisturizing clean!

Breast Cancer touches all of us, whether it is through our family, friends, neighbors, co-workers or more directly, ourselves.  Together, through research, awareness, education, and early detection, we will make a difference and a cure will be found.

JAVA is thrilled to part of Create.Play.Travel NATURAL SKIN CARE TIPS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

We would like to introduce you to Katie of Create.Play.Travel.

Katie Wallace is a Mom to 3 kiddos, wife and DIY enthusiast. She started Create. Play. Travel. as a creative outlet within busy family life.

Here is what Katie had to say about the JAVA Skin Care Wonderbar Coffee + Mint Soap.

If you’ve had any sort of skin irritation or sensitivity, you know the importance of using natural products. Anything that we put on our skin is quickly absorbed by our body. Each season has its own skin care challenges, such as winter dryness and summer sun exposure. These natural products and skin care tips can help your whole family live and feel healthier!

COFFEE INFUSED SKIN CARE

I absolutely love coffee, but I would have never thought to put it in my skin care! Coffee grounds are a natural exfoliate and the caffeine from coffee is a natural anti-inflammatory. I have tried several luxurious products from Java Skin Care. As expected, the deep coffee fragrance combined with the beneficial properties of Java provide rich benefits and smells amazing!

I had the chance to try the Java Skin Care Mint + Coffee Exfoliation Wonderbar made with organic ground coffee. I love this natural soap for a few reasons. First, the Wonderbar is made with ground roasted coffee which scrubs away dead skin cells. The potent mix of coffee serum and mint soothes and smooths the skin.

Also, the Wonderbar is generous in size and will last a long time if stored in a dry place.

Thanks Katie for including JAVA Skin Care in your selection.

February is all about the KISS and our Bloom Lip Duo with Rose Petals wrapped in a sweet pink ribbon is the perfect gift..

Few things can comfort the soul quite like the smell of freshly bloomed coffee, except perhaps for the aroma freshly bloomed roses. This set smooths, plumps, and heals adding a light blush to your lips using only organic plant-based tint. As always this product uses only the highest quality ingredients, and our signature Smithsonian Certified Green Coffee. Benefit #892 Dog Lovers Unite!

Ok – this is not a scientific report. But we have heard the same thing now from completely different JAVA tribe members.

dog and girl

Tribe members with dogs are telling us they are getting a ton of kisses from their dog after using JAVA serum. Maybe it’s the fragrance. Maybe it’s the post use glow.

But whatever the reason, it’s always good when women’s best friend wants to tell you how great you look and how great you are!

Travel Hacks: Tips to Beat Jet Lag, Lines, Theft, Hangovers- part 4

So many of us are on the road between Thanksgiving and Christmas through New Years. We have organized email and posts from JAVA Members with clever tips to ease your mind and to make your trips easy.

Visit a local supermarket- It’s one way to boost your vocabulary and feel more comfortable parsing menus in a foreign language. Plus, you’ll walk away with affordable souvenirs that provide more insights into a country’s culture than the airport duty free. Want to take this hack to the next level? Keep the plastic shopping bag. Walking around with groceries (or what looks like them) is one of the easiest ways to blend in with the hometown crowd, wherever you go.

Watch for a flight delay domino effect- Check the FlightRadar24 app to make sure my plane has left its originating city before you head to the airport, It decreases the pain and agony by 50 percent.

X out your hangover- Leave it to the Brazilians to have the most effective hangover cure ever. One JAVA Tribe member recommends Engov, an all-in-one caffeine and painkiller pill you take before and after drinking, stored in a gold, condom like package. It’s so popular, you can buy it on Amazon.

Your hotel room’s most overlooked amenity is the ironing board- Use it as a standing desk, a place to eat, or an activity table for kids. (And let housekeeping worry about your ironing.)

Zap jet lag- Vitamin D is better than melatonin for fighting inflammation, strengthening your immune system, and regulating your internal clock. A JAVA Tribe member who is a flight attendant says you should do as the crew does and skip all your in-flight meals. “At super high altitudes, your digestive system shuts down completely,” she explains, adding that when you deplane, “your body can’t keep up with the culinary backlog.” A travel agent always hits the ground running when she arrives – she goes for a jog.

What is your favorite travel hack?

Safe Travels

Travel Hacks: Tips to Beat Jet Lag, Lines, Theft, Hangovers- part 3

So many of us are on the road between Thanksgiving and Christmas through New Years. We have organized email and posts from JAVA Members with clever tips to ease your mind and to make your trips easy.

Meals worth carrying on- You want more than pretzels going cross country? Bring your own meal fresh from home. Or keep your eyes open in the terminal for great quality take out like from Wolfgang Puck’s ubiquitous restaurants.

Need caffeine?- In coffee capitals Vienna and Sydney and several other big cities, the map-based Coffee (In)Touch app is a shortcut to third-wave heaven—and free Wi-Fi.

Pamper your pets- Soft-sided, lightweight carriers such as the TSA-approved Jet Sitter ($43) can help get your pet on board, even if the pooch is a few pounds over your airline’s limit. When it comes to restful flying, a chewable children’s Benadryl is as helpful for a pet as it is for a human. (But ask your vet about dosage first.) And always pull pet food out of your carry-on when going through security: Declaring it up front will help prevent confiscation.

Quiz someone else’s concierge- If you’re staying at an Airbnb and need good local advice, head for the nearest luxury hotel.

Rethink room service

Three ways to improve in-room dining:

Make it cheaper: look for menu items that are on both the kids’ and regular menus. Ordering the children’s version rarely results in a much smaller portion—but it halves the price.

Make it faster: insists your food not be placed in a hot box. That way, it gets sent to your room quickly, before it cools.

Make it healthier: Forget the menu: call downstairs and asks the kitchen for anything light and low-cal. It’s the easiest way to fight temptation after a long flight.

How do you travel? What are your hacks?

Safe Travels
