July is awesome in Rhode Island. The weather, the beach and all the events we have keep our days filled with fun. Some on my favorites are:
The Bristol Parade
The Annual Bristol 4th of July Celebration began in 1785 when Rev. Henry Wight of the First Congregational Church and a Veteran of the Revolutionary War conducted the first Patriotic Exercises.
We pack our chairs, make a picnic and enjoy the day.
Fireworks We will be at the beach for the Fireworks on July 4th. Such a fun family day…
Clam cakes and Chowder Monahans Dock, Narragansett RI
Hands down our favorite place to get the perfect lunch… and the view is spectacular.
How are you spending July? I would love to here about your favorite things to do.
During all this fun… please remember to care for your skin. Stayed covered and wear SPF.
This month JAVA is featuring Body Wash.. Why we love it: luxurious bubble soothing organic aloe vera base moisturizing argan oil sweet almond oil scent
Pro Tip: Run out of shampoo? Forgot to buy face cleanser? Good thing our body wash is the queen of multitasking! Lather up your body, face AND hair for beautiful moisturized goodness thanks to all that organic aloe and argan oil Also great for a bubble-bath.
We are fortunate to live in and work from Narragansett, RI… our beaches have won numerous awards for their beauty. It is a special place that I invite you all to visit.
As I look forward to summer, some
of my favorite things are:
Lobster Rolls – we go down to the docks of Point Judith, RI and buy lobsters right off the boats.
We also have amazing places to sit and enjoy the views with a glass of wine. My favorite place is the Coast Guard House… Stunning!
As you may know, I love to
garden, and my Peonies are beginning to bloom. I always struggle with wanting
to cut them for a table center piece but coming up the walkway to the front
door and seeing them each day is such a wonderful experience. I tend to leave
them alone; maybe I need to plant more of them so I can enjoy them both ways…
note to self: plant more peonies.
This time of year, my skin
needs some extra help. The winter has been cold, the spring has been wet, so I use our JAVA Trio to show off my skin in all my fun

antioxidants to help you get your skin refreshed and healthier.

Directions
Here is the at-home
version of the Skin Smoothing Spa Protocol used in 5-star spas across the
country:
Before showering, apply JAVA Body Scrub to dry skin in a circular motion, towards the heart, with even pressure to any “affected” areas (any dimply or less than firm spot on your body, legs, bottom, tummy, upper arms, scars and stretch marks). Scrub gently for three to five minutes. The circular massage will redistribute fat evenly, decrease fluid retention and increase circulation.
Next, wrap the area with a towel, and let the mixture soak in for
fifteen minutes. While you wait, relax; flip through your favorite magazine
while the antioxidants and caffeine absorb deep into your skin to detoxify
and strengthen.
Shower off to rinse your skin. Partially pat dry – you want your skin
to be slightly damp.
Now, massageJAVA Serum into affected areas (and while you’re at it, go ahead and smooth that serum all over your body). Not only will the serum deliver antioxidants and caffeine deep into your skin’s upper layer, it will create a moisture barrier to continue to keep your skin soft and supple all day.
Use the scrub and wrap protocol three days a week until desired
effect is achieved. After that, continue scrubbing once a week and use the wrap
protocol as needed.
On days that you’re not using the scrub, use Wonderbar Coffee Natural Exfoliating Soap in the shower in a circular massage on effected areas to maintain the fat distribution and deliver caffeine and antioxidants to your skin.
April is always a busy month…. collaborations and events that have been planned for months finally happen. I would like to share my fun April collaborations:
Narragansett High School Senior Kelsey Urbach has been this year’s intern. She has inspired a new product~ the Mint Lip Duo. We have been working on it for months She participated in formula creation and she had a great focus group of Seniors evaluate the product. The product will on sale at our J.Crew Pop Up April 27th in Rhode Island.
I am also very excited to have participated as a panelist in the Ethical FashionForum~Presented by Restored by Design and Senior student team Kayla and Zedekiah from Bryant University FashionForum, at Bryant University.
It was an EXCITING and educational evening bringing awareness to sustainability and ethical fashion; an interactive study of sustainability through a fashion show and panel discussion…
A panel discussion made up of local business owners, professionals, professors, and eco-fashion designers, explored the future of Eco-Fashion, problem solving, and how to step into a more ethical lifestyle with style!!!! The evening included a “not your ordinary” fashion show… individual local eco-fashion designers presented their work on the runway and included the opportunity to get up and personal, touch and feel, ask what inspires them, hear the stories behind their creativity… giving you stylish alternatives that GIVE to our future in ethical ways…

As we shake off winter here in New England and look towards Spring..March is filled with the optimism of new beginnings.
Some of my favorite things about March are:
St Patrick’s Day in Newport Rhode Island- we have the best parade ever and it has been named 1 of the Top 5 parades in the USA. I have been attending this parade since I was a little girl and now I get to bring my girls. I’ll see you on Thames Street, March 16th Rain or Shine.
Spring Forward and set the clocks ahead…I know it can be tough the first few days after we switch the clocks but I do LOVE the extra daylight. The snow starts to melt and the crocuses start to peep out of the ground. I have to agree with the New York Times article..let’s just skip all the confusion and stop the switching of the clocks. What do you think?
Full Moon in March is also a very auspicious time. According to the Farmer’s Almanac, this full moon reaches its peak on the same day as the Spring Equinox, which also occurs on Mar. 20. The last time these two events coincided this closely was back in the year 2000, and the last time they occurred on the same date was back in 1981. So take some time to look up in the sky and enjoy.
I am also super excited about our March Spot Light Product…JAVA Illuminating Eye Serum is packed with antioxidants to gently correct the delicate skin around the eyes. We’ve blended some of nature’s most beautiful oils together to restore skin’s elasticity, reduce the look of dark circles and wrinkles, prevent moisture loss and protect skin from free-radical damage.
We are offering a FREE 5ml sample of Eye Serum with every purchase on our website of $50.00 or more. No code needed it will be included in your order. And as always because it is our spotlight product the eye serum is on sale o=for 10% off. Check it out at www.javaskincare.com.
Few things can comfort the soul quite like the smell of freshly bloomed coffee, except perhaps for the aroma freshly bloomed roses. Our sensuous Bloom Lip Duo marries these two exceptional scents to create a lip conditioning experience that will have you feeling like you are sipping your favorite coffee in a spring rose garden. This set smooths, plumps, and heals adding a light blush to your lips using only organic plant-based tint. As always this product uses only the highest quality ingredients, and our signature Smithsonian Certified Green Coffee. Gently exfoliate with our scrub to smooth, plump and prime your lips, then follow with our balm to heal, protect shine and tint.
The petals of the rose have been used in skincare for centuries because of their sweet smell and therapeutic benefits. This set includes a vial of crushed Organic Dried Rose Petals for you to add to a bath soak, face steam or other skincare DIY for a decadent skin-soothing experience.
This Gift Set comes boxed with a beautiful pink ribbon, as shown. $16.00

November is upon us. Thanksgiving with my family is so special too me. A perfect hostess gift like a great bottle of Prosecco, cozy sweaters, and the best food.
My favorite things this month:
Choosing the perfect Hostess Gift. I like to bring a bottle of Prosecco for the party, and, to spoil my hostess, JAVA Skin Care products to enjoy the day after (we all know how stressful it can be to cook the turkey).
MACY’s Day Parade in New York City remains my family’s favorite holiday event. For years and years we have attended the parade…the kids are memorized by the floats. Truth be told so am!
We are thrilled to be chosen again this year to participate in the Made on Honor Market Event for Narragansett Beer on Nov 17&18 at The Guild, Pawtucket RI. This year’s event will be bigger than ever!
The Event will take over the entire campus at The Guild including the Brew House, Packaging Hall, Event Hall, and their brand new Beer Hall with over 65+ vendors. Join us for two full days of holiday shopping, meet the people behind some of OUR favorite brands, and of course, we’ll be drinking plenty of beer. Best part? This event is FREE and open to the public.
At JAVA we’re always trying to make healthier lifestyle choices – and we made a REALLY good life choice when we started working out at Jtab Training with our friend Joey. We’ll admit, it had been quite a while since we’d had a regular exercise routine and the thought of getting back into the swing of things was more then a little intimidating. Lucky for us, we found a fantastic guide back into the world of fitness and now we’re not only feeling stronger and healthier, but we actually look forward to working out!
Joey Taraborelli is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength & Conditioning Association. At Joey’s gym, JTab Training, he offers a variety of programs available to fit every need, schedule and comfort level. From private to group classes, high school and college sport training, the awesome trainers at Jtab will work with you no matter your fitness level. With customized nutrition plans and open gym time available, you will build muscle, decrease body fat and live healthier as you tone your body in a safe and encouraging environment.
“I wish could I teach all of RI how to properly strength train, our state would be more fit and healthy if I could!”
We sat down with Joey to find out more about training, opening a gym and of course coffee:
What inspired you to open your own gym? “I wasinspired to open a gym ’cause I really wanted to help people get strong, and gain confidence in themselves. I was also sick (still am! haha) of the myths in the Fitness Industry that people believe in. (Need “cardio”, don’t lift heavy (for females mostly), you can’t get “cardio” from lifting, lifting is dangerous…. Reality is it’s WAY more dangerous to be weak!)”
What is your Training? “My philosophy is lift heavy weights, get strong, get healthy and don’t eat like an idiot (eat like an adult). What that really means is I want people to be strong, fit, and to eat the way they “should” be eating, LOTS of protein, as much greens as they can get in and limit carbs and alcohol.”
What is your passion outside of the gym? “Passion outside the gym is easy, hanging out with friends. Also enjoy watching my athletes’s games, playing volleyball when I can, and of course watching my Superhero movies and shows! HULK SMASH!”
Your favorite JAVA Product? “Favorite JAVA Product is the scrub, I have lots of dark scar spots and it helps smooth out my skin organically and without chemicals.”
How do you take your coffee? “Coffee black with stevia (cold brew when I can)”

This is the time of year when I redirect my focus on wellness, self-care and exercise.
My favorite September things to do:
Picking bouquets of sunflowers from a local farm
Spending afternoons enjoying the lingering summer weather
Getting back to my gym – but still spending time outdoors as much as the weather allows!
Caring for my skin after exposure to the harsh summer sun and salt water
My go to product for September is JAVA Body Scrub. One area of my skin that I find suffers a lot during the summer weather is my decolletage. All of the things I love about summer’s at the ocean in Rhode Island – sun, salt water and high temperatures – lead to a less then smooth texture to the skin on my chest and neck more than at other seasons of the year. JAVA Body Scrub turns back the clock on crepey and aged looking skin, bringing me back to soft and supple.
Stephanie Additon is the Founder/President/CEO of JAVA Skin Care, LLC, a Rhode Island based skin care company with a coffee-centric vibe. Each product in the JAVA collection contains a proprietary raw coffee infusion loaded with antioxidants along with other skin-loving plant-based ingredients.
Pretty much everyone knows about St. Patrick’s Day, right? In Rhode Island, we have several annual parades, including one in Newport that becomes quite the all-day into evening party (and we know from experience). You may even be lucky enough to see a leprechaun or two around town.
We also celebrate another holiday that you may not be as familiar with only two days after the Irish party. Its calledSt. Joseph’s Day, and its kind of like the Italian version of St. Patrick’s Day, with a few differences. Here in Little Rhody, instead of green we wear red and instead of drinking Guinness we eat these amaaaazing Italian pastries called zeppoles. It’s said that everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, and on St. Joseph’s Day we can all be Italian and enjoy the delectable pastries made especially for this holiday.
I guess you can add that to list of things we do or say a little differently in Rhode Island, along with coffee milk (like chocolate milk but better), bubblers (water fountains), and cabinets (milk shakes) to name a few. Happy March from our weird and wonderful state to yours!
